Drugs, Money, and Music

I have been home for a little while now and since my return I have been attempting to complete a number of items on my list of things to do. First and foremost, I bought a violin. I spent a few days in a row going to Elderly Instruments looking at and attempting to play almost every violin they had. After this long and rigorous interview process I finally decided on the violin I wanted which was, oddly enough, out of my price range. While I was debating on what to do about my new dilemma an elderly man (no relation to Elderly Instruments) joined me in the room. As he browsed around he asked me what type of music I played. After explaining that I was a beginner buying my first violin, I reciprocated the question back to him. His response was short and to the point, "I play that old timey stuff". Picking up the closest instrument in sight, he began to fiddle his heart out. After a few minutes he finished playing and put the fiddle back in it's appropriate spot. As he was doing the same to the bow I asked him how long he had been playing. Taking a second to think, he slowly responded with "About...60 years?". We chatted for a while before going our separate ways, but as he was walking out the door he turned around and left me with these words, "keep it up, you'll be glad you did." I have every intention of doing so. A few minutes later, I talked with a friend of mine who works there about the violin I wanted. He went to the back room and found a "free" bow which allowed me to spend the extra money to get the one I had my heart set on.
Another thing I have been wanting to do for a while was a ride along with my brother in law. Last night I was able to go with him and fight crime until the early morning. The night included not only one, but two drug house raids, and an arrest of a couple of kids with a loaded shotgun. There was a tip that these kids were on their way to kill someone, the car was spotted, kids captured. The drug raids were pretty eventful too. I was able to walk through the scene while they were tearing apart the houses finding about 40 pounds of weed, numerous guns, and more cash then most men make in a year. According to Comrade Luke, this bust will bring down the biggest drug movers in the area. Needles to say, it was a fun night.
I have more to say but this is already a long post so I will save it for later.

Grace be with you.
